Modern Seasonal Beer From Manchester
Cloudwater change their can designs like the seasons, quite literally! Not only are Cloudwater Brew Co. genuinely in love with the concept of seasonality, but they’re also committed to weaving it into as many areas of the brewery as possible. If you’re unfamiliar with these Manchester titans, then I’d highly advise you pay attention. One of their core aims is to showcase the ebb and flow of time through the use of seasonal ingredients, while also marking each seasonal shift with a fresh range and a new artist.
Goodbye Winter, Hello Summer
We’ve recently waved goodbye to their Autumn/Winter 2017 artist; the mysterious SHRILLER with their intense, often stormy labels, and welcomed Louise Sheeran with her summer-drenched tones. Cloudwater’s resident branding wranglers; Textbook Studio, have also breathed a fresh breath of design air into the label layout, shifting focus away from the brewery name and towards the artwork.
Gone is 'Cloudwater' from the front of the cans, while the understated logo remains, and dry hop intensities have joined the party. They aim to give us drinkers the clearest insight possible into their brewing methods, which is why you’ll find the yeast, malt, hops, serving temperature and ‘hops fade fast’ advice clearly detailed on the reverse of each can. They’ve helpfully gone so far as to break the hops down into aroma and bittering additions. This is a far better indicator of how the beer will taste, compared to any old-school colour description or tiny jar of beer sat on a bar.
